River Shack Rentals is family owned and operated by David and Wendy Hartley. Established in 2007, and provide 42 years of combined hospitality experience.
The Mighty Murray River flows more than 2500 kilometres from the Snowy Mountains, through the Riverland and into the River Murray Lakes and Coorong regions of South Australia. The River is around 130 million years old and is rich with Aboriginal history, culture and heritage.
As the Mighty Murray heads to the SA border, it changes from the narrower winding river with defined banks, into a wide slow meandering gentle flowing water way that can vary from steep ochre-coloured cliffs on one side and magnificent river red gums on the other, to wide open waterways lined by willow trees.
You soon discover what the locals refer to as "Rivertime" – where time doesn't matter at all.
Whether you choose the food and wine options around the Riverland, the picturesque cliffs of the lower Murray, the dark sky reserve, or head closer to the attractions of Monarto Safari Park or The Bend Motorsport park, when you return to your shack you will once again experience Rivertime.
River Shack Rentals accommodation offers the experiences of the old style river shacks you may have visited as a kid, up to very modern luxury homes sleeping up to 22 – perfect places to meet family and friends, something to suit everyone.
With most properties being under 2 hours – and yet a whole world away from Adelaide, more time can be spent on the river than the road.
From Breaking through the glassy water for the first ski or wakeboard of the day, through to lighting the BBQ by the side of the river at night – you to will soon discover and appreciate Rivertime.
